Foodies, don't let an evening of fine dining in Paris be spoiled by a cold duck soup entrée when you your adamant you ordered the warm goats cheese on toast and lettuce. Seriously though, where would we be without our French counterparts and their vastly superior culinary skills?

For some quick-and-easy culinary phrases, check out our dedicated au restaurant section; however, first thing's first - où pouvez-vous acheter la nourriture? The table below lists nearly all of the various sorts of French food shops, cafés and eateries. To work out the title of the male (female) assistant serving you, drop the store's -erie ending and add -ier (-ière).
